Key suspect in Lime Asset Management Kim Bong-hyun flees ahead of trial

Kim Bong-hyun, former chairman of Star Mobility [YONHAP]

Kim Bong-hyun, former chairman of Star Mobility and key figure in a financial fraud scandal surrounding Lime Asset Management, has fled ahead of his trial after cutting off his monitoring ankle bracelet.
 
Kim cut off the monitoring device at around 1:30 p.m. in Hanam, Gyeonggi, ahead of his final court hearing at 3 p.m. on charges of extorting tens of billions of won from his fund and a bus operator to finance bribes for politicians and prosecutors.
 
Kim was prosecuted in May 2020 and released on bail in July last year.
