Hyundai's revamped Grandeur sedan already proving popular
Known as the “father’s car" in Korea, the premium sedan comes with a sharper and more luxurious look with a bigger parametric jewel grille and large-size LED headlamps in the front.
Measuring 5,035 millimeters (198 inches) long, 45 millimeters longer than the previous model, the latest sedan is roomier, Hyundai said. Some say the exterior has a similar look to Hyundai’s Staria van.
The luxury sedan is available with four engines: 2.5-liter gasoline, 3.5-liter gasoline, 3.5-liter liquefied petroleum gas and 1.6-liter gasoline hybrid.
Chang also said Hyundai is “considering” developing a pure electric version of the Grandeur.
The car is equipped with 10 airbags and safety features, such as front collision avoidance, highway driving assist, reverse parking collision avoidance and remote smart parking assist systems.
The sticker price starts at 37.2 million won ($28,000).
Some 110,000 customers are on the waitlist, Hyundai said, which significantly surpassed the automaker’s target of 11,000 for this year. It is also close to the automaker’s 2023 sales target of 119,000.
Selling under the name Azera in markets outside Korea, the sedan will go on sale internationally in the second quarter of 2023.
