SK Innovation was named the winner in the public interest category at this year’s Korea PR Awards for its “plogging” volunteering campaign, the company said Thursday.

Plogging involves picking up litter while jogging.

The annual Korea PR Awards, in its 30th year, is hosted by the Korea Public Relations Association. The public interest category includes a project or campaign that serves the public interest.

SK Innovation executives and employees have been doing volunteer work since last year, picking up trash at diverse places, including Seogwipo, Jeju Island. Employees at overseas offices in the United States, China, Poland and more joined the campaign as well.

“Winning the top prize for the public interest category in the Korea PR Awards is an acknowledgment of the sincerity in our campaign which SK Innovation, its cooperating organizations and regular citizens took part in,” said Park Hyeon-seop, professional leader of SK Innovation’s Value Creation Center.
