Kylian Mbappe scored a brace for France as they beat Denmark 2-1 on Saturday. France is now the first team to secure their spot in the knockout stages of the World Cup.
France took the lead in the 61st minute with an opening goal from Mbappe but just seven minutes later, the lead was cancelled out by Andreas Christensen’s equaliser.
But Mbappe went back at it in the 86th minute, scoring the winner. Mbappe converted on a cross from Antoine Griezmann and sent the ball past the goalkeeper with his thigh and into the back of the net.
With the win over Denmark the reigning champions have six points and are at the top of Group D becoming the first team to secure their place in the round of 16.
