Candidates announced for KBO Golden Glove awards

 
The 89 candidates for the KBO Golden Glove awards were announced Monday.
 
Voting will be held from Monday until Thursday, and only 10 players with the best performance in each position this KBO season will be given the Golden Glove on Friday. Unlike the MLB gold gloves, KBO golden gloves are awarded based on offensive prowess, not defensive ability.
 
A total of 32 pitchers were named as candidates, including SSG Landers' Kim Kwang-hyun, Oh Won-seok, and Noh Kyung-eun, Kiwoom's An Woo-jin and Jokisch, LG's Kelly Casey, Adam Plutko, Lee Min-ho, Go Woo-suk and Jung Woo-young, KT's Ko Young-pyo, So Hyeong-jun, Um Sang-back, Odrisamer Despaigne, Kim Min-su, Kim Jae-yoon and Jung Hai-young, NC's Drew Rucinski and Koo Chang-mo, Samsung's Albert Suarwz, Won Tae-in, David Buchanan and On Seung-hwan, Lotte's Charlie Barnes and Park Se-woong, Doosan's Rober Stock, Choi Won-joon and Gwak Been, and Hanwha's Kim Min-woo.
 
Seven catchers who were named as candidates were Kiwoom's Lee Ji-young, LG's Yoo Kang-nam, KT's Jang Sung-woo, KIA's Park Dong-won, NC's Yang Eui-ji, Doosan's Park Sei-hyok and Hanwha's Choi Jae-hoon.
 
The four nominated first basemen are LG's Chae Eun-sung, KT's Park Byung-ho, KIA's Hwang Dae-in and Samsung's Oh Jae-il.
 
The seven nominated second basemen are Kiwoom's Kim Hye-seong, KIA's Kim Sun-bin, NC's Park Min-woo, Samsung's Kim Ji-chan, Lotte's An Chi-hong, Doosan's Kang Seung-ho and Hanwha's Jung Eun-won.
 
The seven nominated third basemen are the Landers' Choi Jeong, Kiwoom's Song Sung-moon, LG's Moon Bo-gyeong, KT's Hwang Jae-gyun, KIA's Ryu Ji-hyuk, Lotte's Han Dong-hui and Doosan's Heo Kyoung-min.
 
Six short stops, SSG's Park Seong-han, Kiwoom's Kim Whee-jip, LG's Oh Ji-hwan, KT's Shim Woo-jun, KIA's Park Chan-ho and Hanwha's Ha Ju-suk, were listed as candidates as well.
 
As for hitters, SSG's Choo Shin-soo, KIA's Choi Hyoung-woo, Lotte's Lee Dae-ho and Doosan's Jose Fernandez were named as candidates.
 
In the outfield, three awards will be handed out regardless of position.
 
The 22 outfielders nominated are SSG's Cho Ji-hoon and Han Yoo-seom, Kiwoom's Lee Jung-hoo, Yasiel Puig and Kim Jun-wan, LG's Park Hae-min, Hong Chang-ki and Kim Hyun-soo, KT's Bae Jung-dae and Cho Yong-ho, KIA's Na Sung-bum, Lee Chang-jin and Socrates Brito, NC's Son Ah-seop, Samsung's Jose Pirela, Kim Hyeon-joon and Koo Ja-wook, Lotte's Jeon Jun-woo and Donal Jr. Peters, Doosan's Jung Soo-bin and Kim Jae-hwan, and Hanwha's Michael Tauchman.
 
Out of all 10 KBO clubs, the Tigers is the only club that has candidates in all positions. The two clubs with the most candidates are LG and KT, who both have 12 nominated players. 
 
The 2022 KBO Golden Glove awards ceremony will be held on Friday at the COEX Auditorium in Gangnam District, southern Seoul.
