HDR10+, a high dynamic range (HDR) video technology standard proposed by Samsung Electronics, will be applied in IPTV content and gaming hardware, the electronics maker said Thursday.

KT, Nvidia and Amazon are adopting the advanced visual standard for their products, according to Samsung Electronics.

HDR10+, first introduced in 2017 by Samsung Electronics, is a format of HDR visual technology that is considered more advanced than the previous HDR10. It delivers more vivid color displays by optimizing brightness levels scene by scene.

Samsung Electronics introduced the HDR10+ gaming standard at CES 2022 held in Las Vegas early this year, and adopted the latest standard for its TVs and gaming monitors.

KT, a local IPTV service provider, plans to adopt the HDR10+ in its new set-top boxes, which are scheduled for release in the first quarter next year.

Amazon's Fire TV video streaming devices began to support the HDR10+ standard starting September last year, and Nvidia announced on Nov. 16 that its GeForce RTX and GeForce GTX 16 Series graphics cards and laptops will also support the gaming standard.

“HDR10+, an open standard for high-resolution video technology developed by Samsung Electronics, continues to be adopted by leading IPTV service providers and gaming companies from both home and abroad,” said Yong Seok-woo, executive vice president of visual display business at Samsung Electronics.

“We will continue to contribute to the global content industry by actively collaborating with various companies,” Yong added.
