BTS's Jin, who began his mandatory military service on Tuesday, has been assigned his own personal online postbox at The Camp — a website that handles online letters for Korean soldiers serving in the military.

On Wednesday, a post on an online board of the boot camp where Jin is training in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi was uploaded informing fans of this news. But it also asked that they refrain from sending too many letters to Jin.

“As a pilot program, trainees in our unit are allowed to use mobile phones for 30 minutes a day. They will be checking the letters that arrive online individually using their mobile phones. However, since they all use the same server for the Internet, the server will become very unstable if too many online letters arrive, making it impossible for other trainees to check their letters," the post reads.

However, news outlet YTN reported that the post was not written by an army official but by an employee working for the company that operates the website The Camp. The person who wrote the post told YTN that they posted the article without the boot camp’s consent “from good intention that too many letters might make the server unstable.”

The Camp has been operating the site for the Korean army since 2018.

Jin’s boot camp confirmed that it did not agree to the post and added that the fans have nothing to worry about and can freely send letters as the server will be safe.

After five weeks of training at the boot camp, Jin will be assigned to a local unit. He is expected to be discharged from his mandatory service on June 12, 2024.
