More than 500 safety agents will be dispatched for crowd control at the 2022 Busan Fireworks Festival, which is set to take place tomorrow, according to the National Fire Agency and Busan Metropolitan City Fire Disaster Headquarters Friday.

The two institutions have come up with safety plans as over one million people are expected to gather at the festival every year.

Along Gwanganli Beach, the main festival spot, a total of 244 firefighters and workers at the fire station will be dispatched with 24 ambulances around the festival venue for emergencies.

Nine regions, including Dongbaek Island, Igidae Park and Marine City, which are expecting big crowds, will be covered by 203 firefighters. Safety agents will also be found at six subway stations.

Busan Metropolitan City Fire Disaster Headquarters conducted a safety education session, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), for festival staff and volunteers on Tuesday.

Busan Metropolitan Police are also gearing up for crowd control.

Around 530 police officers will be dispatched to the site.

This is the first time in three years that the city will be hosting the fireworks festival, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
