SK E&S will showcase sustainable energy solutions at the upcoming CES 2023, including a liquid hydrogen-powered drone.

The energy company will open a joint booth with seven other SK companies at the annual trade show, including SK Innovation and SK Telecom. The annual event runs from Jan. 5 to 8 in Las Vegas.

A GenDrive hydrogen fuel cell power pack and GenFuel dispenser will be on display, which were developed by New York-based Plug Power. SK Inc. and SK E&S jointly invested $1.5 billion into Plug Power in 2021, acquiring 9.9 percent of the Nasdaq-listed company.

Hydrogen has emerged as a key green energy source for achieving zero-emission goals as it does not release harmful chemicals into the atmosphere. Hydrogen fuel cell packs can be used in mobility, such as for forklifts.

SK E&S will also introduce a liquid hydrogen-powered drone, which in February made a flight of 13 hours and 24 minutes, a record for this type of unmanned aerial vehicle.

With higher energy storage density, liquefied hydrogen drones can fly up to 26 times longer than lithium-ion battery-powered drones and more than six times longer than gaseous hydrogen drones.

California-based EverCharge will display COVE, an electric vehicle (EV) charger for households. SK E&S in March invested an undisclosed amount of money in the charging company. It will be the first time for the charger to be unveiled to the public.

Also on display will be visual content featuring its carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) technology, SK E&S said. The company announced in May that it will invest in a project to capture and store up to 12 million tons of carbon dioxide from 32 corn ethanol plants in five midwestern U.S. states.

"SK E&S endeavors to reduce carbon emissions by strengthening our energy businesses such as for hydrogen and liquefied natural gas," SK E&S said in a statement.

Lotte's one major focus for the upcoming show will also be EV charging.

Lotte Data Communication will separate its booth into two different parts: an EV charging zone and a metaverse zone.

The company will display EV chargers and introduce EVSIS, an app that allows people to search for nearby EV charging stations and make payments.

In the metaverse zone, visitors will be able to enjoy K-pop concerts virtually.

Lotte Healthcare will release its Cazzle app during the event, an app that analyzes users' health and gives tailored wellness advice.

Lotte Chemical will introduce its CCU technology at a booth that will be made by the Seoul Metropolitan Government.
