Paying respects
A mourning altar for Lee Ok-seon, a ″comfort woman″ survivor who passed away Monday night at the age of 94, at a funeral hall in Gwangju, Gyeonggi, on Tuesday. Lee, who was born in Daegu and was sent to Japanese forces in Manchuria at the age of 16, returned to Korea after the country was freed from Japanese colonization. She stayed at the House of Sharing, a shelter for victims of the Japanese military’s wartime sexual slavery. [YONHAP]
