Tomorrow X Together’s fourth EP was third most-sold CD in U.S. in 2022
K-pop boy band Tomorrow X Together’s fourth EP “minisode 2: Thursday's Child” was the third most-sold CD in the United States last year, according to entertainment data analysis company Luminate on Wednesday.
Formerly known as MRC Data and Nielsen Music, Luminate announced its wrap-up report of 2022 on Wednesday. The report shows that “minisode 2: Thursday's Child,” released in May 2022, sold 227,000 physical copies in the United States.
This is the highest rank reached by a “fourth-generation” K-pop act, referring to those who debuted around 2020 or afterward. Tomorrow X Together debuted in 2019.
Taylor Swift’s “Midnights” and BTS’s “Proof” each took first and second place.
Tomorrow X Together also ranked at No. 10 on the Top Albums (total sales) section, which takes into account both physical and digital CD sales.
In total, “minisode 2: Thursday's Child” sold over 1.6 million copies worldwide. It peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
The band is set to drop its fifth EP “The Name Chapter: Temptation” on Jan. 27, which already surpassed 1.56 million copies in pre-orders.
Tomorrow X Together is best known for hits such as “Crown” (2019), “Blue Hour” (2020) and “Good Boy Gone Bad” (2022). It has five members: Soobin, Yeonjun, Beomgyu, Taehyun and Hueningkai.
