Northbound trains on subway line No. 4 have been passing through Samgakji Station without stopping since 4:23 p.m. on Friday due to protests by the Solidarity Against Disability Discrimination (SADD).

Seoul Metro's decision to skip the stop came after the civic group protest delayed the train for roughly 30 minutes earlier the same day, notably after the head of SADD, Park kyung-seok, laid down at the entrance of one of the cars.

Some 30 SADD members were participating in the protest despite pushback by the metro employees and police.

The SADD protest started after the civic group’s one-on-one meeting demand with Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon was not met.

Mayor Oh wanted the meeting to be held in conjunction with other groups representing people with disabilities.

The Seoul Metro earlier requested SADD to refrain from protesting as the delay of trains, especially on line No. 4, which stops at Seoul Station, will inconvenience people trying to head to their hometowns ahead of the Lunar New Year holidays, which begin Saturday.
