Korean badminton star An Se-young won the Badminton World Federation (BWF)'s Indonesia Masters on Sunday, taking her second world tour title in a row after triumphing at the India Open one week earlier.

Twenty-year-old An beat Carolina Marin from Spain 2-1 in the final of the women’s singles event to take the title.

Marin, who won a gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics, was not an easy opponent to beat, taking 21-18.

An did not give up, however, and found that breakthrough in the second set. She managed to take the score to 13-13 and earned three points consecutively as she induced Marin to make mistakes. She did not stop there, pushing her attacks thereafter to take the second set 21-18.

The Korean star was able to play the third set more confidently. She took the score to 14-10 and extended her lead to eventually win the set 21-13, marking her victory with a 2-1 set score.

With the win on Sunday, An’s record against the Spanish player is now tied at four wins and four losses.

An currently ranks second in the world on the BWF women's world raking after Akana Yamaguchi of Japan. The pair faced off in the final of the India Open last week, with An beating Yamaguchi to take that title.

An has 13 BWF World Tour titles to her name, winning her first at the 2019 New Zealand Open. She won three tournaments last year, a record she is already close to matching this year.

The World Tour continues this week with the Thailand Open, the last stop of the current Asia swing, before breaking for most of February and resurfacing in Europe in March with the German Open starting on March 7 and the All England Open Championships following on March 14. An finished second to Yamaguchi at last year's All England Open.
