Girl group Viviz is back with a brand new attitude in its third EP “VarioUS” and lead track “Pull Up.”

The three members SinB, Eunha and Umji introduced their new music during Tuesday’s showcase at the Yes24 Live Hall in Gwangjin District, eastern Seoul.

“I always thought we’ve presented many different concepts so far, but this EP felt especially new,” said Umji. “It made me glad that we could show fans something new once again. I don’t think we’ve ever shown this kind of performance or attitude.”

The members performed lead track “Pull Up,” a chic pop number with brass sounds and confident lyrics like “You know me; that I don’t care” and “Stop predicting me.”

“It’s a song about getting cute, satisfying revenge on people who talk about you behind your back,” said Eunha. “I think a lot of people can relate, and we hope this song feels like we're throwing a satisfying punch for them.”

The three were originally members of girl group GFriend, which was active from 2015 to 2021, and regrouped as Viviz in 2022. Its EPs from last year, “Beam of Prism” and “Summer Vibe,” presented bubbly pastel-toned images, but the group is back with a charismatic black-and-white aesthetic this time.

“If we would have had to perform a concept like ‘Pull Up’ earlier in our careers when we weren’t as relaxed or experienced, we would’ve done our best, but we would’ve felt lost,” said Umji. “Even now, this kind of concept was not easy to pull off. I think we met it at the right time, at the right age when we could fully enjoy it.”

The EP also includes tracks “Blue Clue,” “Love or Die,” “Vanilla Sugar Killer,” “Overdrive” and “So Special,” the last of which Viviz performed during the showcase.

“‘So Special’ is a charming number that gives you a warm feeling with encouraging lyrics,” said SinB. “Each of the six tracks are great in unique ways. Please send us a lot of love!”

This year, the members are also celebrating the eighth anniversary of their debut as GFriend and were asked if all the former GFriend members had any plans to reunite at some point.

“We regrouped thinking that Viviz is a new group, rather than a continuation of GFriend,” said Eunha. “So I’m cautious of speaking as if our opinion represents GFriend.”

“As for now, each [of the former GFriend members] are doing their best in their own positions,” SinB added. “If we keep doing our own thing and enjoy, who knows? We might cross paths in the future.”

“I can’t believe it’s almost been a decade" since debuting as GFriend, Umji said. “Each year has been full of precious moments for us to grow into what we are now. We are excited for many more anniversaries to come.”
