Netflix updated its premium membership with upgraded audio effects and expanded the number of devices on which users can save the platform’s content offline.

The spatial audio effect enables premium users to enjoy high-quality sound as if they are in a movie theater without acquiring additional audio devices or fees.

Currently about 700 pieces of streaming content on the platform such as “Stranger Things” (2016-), “Wednesday” (2022) and “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” (2022) are available with upgraded audios. More content will soon be adjusted for the update.

The streaming giant also expanded the number of devices on which users can save their content from four to six. The streaming giant said that the update reflects the voices of users who wanted to download streaming content offline on their devices for circumstances when Internet is not accessible.

“Netflix hopes to provide the best immersive entertainment that is available on the platform not only through exceptional storytelling but using a variety of technological skillsets such as 4K, HDR, Dolby Atmos sound settings and content downloads,” Netflix said in a statement. “We hope users can experience the upgraded entertainment through our new functions anytime, anywhere.”

The update is available to domestic users from Thursday. The cost of premium membership remains the same at 17,000 won ($13.90) per month. A maximum of four users can share one account.
