North Korea held a military parade late Wednesday, its first since April 2022, in celebration of the 75th foundation anniversary of the Korean People’s Army (KPA).

Maxar Technologies’ satellite images show what appears to be a convoy of missiles, including North Korea’s longest-range intercontinental ballistic missile Hwaseong-17 and slightly shorter-range missiles, passing through a huge crowd in front of the Kim Il Sung Square in Pyongyang.

While this is the 13th military parade held since Kim Jong-un became North Korean leader in 2012, it is only the fifth parade that was held late at night.

North Korea has been holding its military parades after dark since 2020.

The parade was not livestreamed.

On Tuesday, Kim Jong-un met with North Korean soldiers at an army barracks and attended a banquet in which his daughter Kim Ju-ae also attended, positioned in the center.

Kim’s wife Ri Sol-ju, also in attendance, wore a necklace with a pendant in the shape of Hwaseong-17.
