SK ecoplant's TES, a Singaporean electronics waste recycling company, established a recycling facility in Las Vegas, the parent company said Thursday.

It is TES’ fourth recycling plant in the United States.

The newly-built recycling facility, which measures 3,700 square meters (39,800 square feet), will mainly handle the IT asset disposition, which involves data destruction and reprocessing of discarded electronics or batteries for recycling.

SK ecoplant acquired TES for $1 billion last year.

“By establishing a battery recycling business value chain with TES, we will realize a closed-loop system where rare metals retracted from discarded batteries are used in new batteries,” said SK ecoplant CEO Park Kyung-il.
