250, best known as the producer behind girl group NewJeans, took home the most awards at the 20th Korean Music Awards livestreamed via YouTube on Sunday.

250, a musician and DJ whose real name is Lee Ho-hyung, took home four awards: Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Best Electronic Song, and Best Electronic Album, all for his 2022 album "Ppong."

Rookie girl group NewJeans, whose hits were mostly produced by 250, was nominated to six categories and won three: Rookie of the Year, Best K-Pop Song for "Attention" (2022) and Best K-Pop Album for its debut EP "New Jeans," released last August. The girl group was unable to attend the ceremony due to plans overseas, but delivered a speech of gratitude via video.

The Korean Music Awards is known to place emphasis on musicality and artistic attempts over popularity among the general public. This year, a panel of 54 critics and music reporters selected the winners.

250 released "Ppong" in March 2022 and received critical acclaim for giving a modern electronic twist to traditional trot, a genre of upbeat dance music that has been popular among Koreans since the 1950s and is still beloved, mainly by older generations of Koreans.

The music video for "Bang Bus," one of the album's tracks which won Best Electronic Song, also received positive reviews and was invited for screening at the Boston International Film Festival and the Swedish Film Festival.

The songs he produced for NewJeans, such as "Attention," "Hype Boy" (2022) and "Ditto" (2022), are still at the top ranks of Korean streaming charts.

Singer Younha received Song of the Year and Best Pop Song for her chart-climbing sleeper hit "Event Horizon" (2022), which went viral months after its release.

"Being able to do music is a great talent and a blessing," she said during her acceptance speech. "If you keep going forward on your own path without giving up, you will be able to build an ecosystem where you can set the standard of good music."
