Korean historical drama “Oasis,” being broadcast on KBS, garnered a viewership rating of 6.3 percent over the weekend according to Nielsen Korea.

The first episode of “Oasis” was broadcast at 9:50 p.m. Monday, and recorded one of the highest ratings for a drama series this year.

“Oasis” centers on three school friends who get involved in a love triangle, against the backdrop of a rural village in the 1980s in Korea. The drama has also gotten good reviews for accurately depicting the military regime in the 80s.

Actor Seol In-a plays Oh Jung-shin, a transfer student from Seoul who arrives at the remote village where Lee Du-hak, played by actor Jang Dong-yoon, and Choi Cheol-woong, played by Choo Yeong-woo, are best friends. Du-hak and Cheol-woong instantly fall in love with Jung-shin but the three agree to be friends. Tensions build when Du-hak places first on an exam, beating Cheol-woong, who is financially and socially more well-off than his friend.

“Oasis” airs every Monday and Tuesday.
