Hanjin Transportation named Emily Cho, 37, the youngest daughter of the late Hanjin Group chairman, as its newest executive director.

The appointment will take effect after the next shareholder meeting slated for March 23, the logistics company said in a regulatory filing Wednesday.

It is the first time for Cho to be named as a member of the board for a listed Hanjin company.

“Despite the difficult economic times last year, Cho led record-high profits along with CEO Noh Sam-seok such as through investments in logistics infrastructure and automation at home and abroad, and in the expansion of overseas bases,” wrote Hanjin Transportation.

Cho currently sits as the chief marketing officer (CMO) overseeing the general strategies of marketing and future growth at the logistics firm.

Cho was forced to step down from all her roles in disgrace in 2018 when she hurled a cup of water at an advertising agency official.

She returned to management as senior vice president of Hanjin KAL in June 2019.

She then moved to Hanjin Transportation as marketing director in September 2020, and was promoted to vice president in January 2021 and to president in January 2022.
