5th Apple Store to open in Korea, on Gangnam's main drag

Apple will open a new Apple Store on the main street of Gangnam District on March 31, extending its reach to gain more Korean iPhone and iPad users.
The new store, which will take up two floors, will be located near Sinnonhyeon Station on Gangnam-daero, only about 1 kilometer (0.6 miles) away from the Samsung Electronics office building.
The site will be a fifth Apple Store in Korea, following latest opening in Myeongdong, central Seoul. At the Gangnam site, the building being used housed Frisbee, a local reseller of Apple products, and sportswear brand Under Armour.
Although Apple’s first store is also located in Gangnam District, it is located in Garosugil alley, away from the bustling commercial area of Gangnam.
Visitors will be able to browse the latest Apple products and join programs and training sessions, in which participants learn about content creation from experts and artists.
Apple is accelerating the opening of Apple stores over the past year, although its market share remains at around 30 percent in Korea due to the dominant position of Samsung Electronics Galaxy phones in the home turf.
In 2022 alone, it opened two stores, in Myeongdong and Jamsil. The first one flung its door open in 2018.
