Minnie from girl group (G)I-DLE will release a track for Riot Games’ online shooter game Valorant on Wednesday.

“Making Waves,” produced in collaboration with Dutch DJ Don Diablo, will be the anthem song for the Pacific Division of Valorant’s e-sports worldwide league, Valorant Champions Tour (VCT).

Valorant is a free-to-play online first-person shooter game developed by Riot Games, the producers of the global hit online game League of Legends. Valorant was released in 2020, more than 10 years after League of Legends’ original release.

Valorant Champions Tour, operated by Riot Games, is Valorant’s newly launched Esport league started in February 2023. The league is divided into three categories — Pacific (Asia-Pacific), Americas and EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa).

In the teaser video released on Monday, Minnie is seen in a recording booth during the production of the track.

“I just finished recording Making Waves [...] and I really loved it,” said Minnie in English, after introducing herself in English, Thai and Korean.

“It was quite challenging because there’s a lot of high notes and pretty dynamic,” she said.

Soyeon and Miyeon from (G)I-DLE have also collaborated with Riot Games. They were behind the voices of K/DA, a virtual girl group in the fictional universe of the game League of Legends. The virtual girl group debuted in 2018 with its single Pop/Stars, garnering popularity from both fans of K-pop and fans of the game.
