Paris Baguette, the bakery franchise run by SPC Group, opened its first franchise store in Canada.

The franchise opened its first Canadian location at the Yonge Sheppard Centre shopping mall in Toronto on Wednesday, SPC said through a press release on Thursday.

Canada is the tenth overseas nation where Paris Baguette has opened a location. Seven more stores are slated to open in Canada within this year, with the bakery cafe seeking to reach 1,000 stores across North America by 2030, SPC said.

“Canada is a strategically important market for our global business, as it is an Anglo-American market but also encompasses the pan-French community,” said Hur Jin-soo, president of SPC’s Paris Croissant, who also oversees the company's global business. “We will actively expand our global business to target the global food system’s $9 trillion market value.”

Paris Baguette operates a total of 450 branches worldwide.

Paris Baguette is aggressively expanding its North American and European footprints. It opened two branches in Britain and three in France in 2021, and opened its 100th franchise store in the United States in January this year. The Korean bakery chain plans to open four new franchise stores in the United States this month.
