Kakao Games formed a partnership with tech startup Beluga for research with an aim to create a game that can diagnose and prevent dementia.

“We agree with Beluga’s purpose to spread the positive value of games and decided to cooperate with its research in developing a game that can diagnose and prevent dementia,” Kakao Games CEO Cho Kye-hyun said.

Beluga is a company specializing in cognitive assessment which possesses game technology to evaluate and train cognitive skills in an easy and entertaining format. The company is in the process of developing a game which can diagnose the early stages of dementia.

“The most adequate service to make assessments and train cognitive functions in an entertaining way is in a game format,” said Beluga’s CEO Kim Jong-yoon. “We are happy to collaborate with global game publisher Kakao Games. We’ll try to come up with a useful game which can be effective in diagnosing early symptoms of dementia and also help manage the impairment.”
