KBO raided by prosecutors as bribery investigation continues

Prosecutors raided the offices of the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) as a top official is being investigated for bribery.  
 
The Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office on Friday seized evidence from the KBO office in Gangnam, southern Seoul.  
 
While details have not been released, the prosecutors are looking into an official of KBO’s marketing affiliate KBOP.  
 
The company is responsible for the baseball league sponsorships, merchandise and broadcasting rights.  
 
The raid happened just a day before the KBO season kicked off.
 
The Korean baseball league has been at the center of numerous controversies even before the season started.  
 
Lotte Giants pitcher Seo Jun-won was suspended indefinitely by the KBO after he was indicted without detention from persuading a minor he met online to take and send photos.  
 
Kia Tigers fired general manager Jang Jung-suk on Wednesday after allegations surfaced that he had asked former catcher Park Dong-won for bribe during a contract negotiation last year.
