Jisoo, the last of girl group Blackpink to release solo music, is breaking records with her latest album "ME."
The two-track EP sold 875,149 copies on the first day of release on Friday, which is not only the highest ever for a female solo K-pop singer for the first-day sales, but also for overall sales.
The previous record was held by Lisa, also from Blackpink, with her solo album "LALISA" (2021) that sold 730,000 copies during the first week, followed by Rose, again from Blackpink, who sold 440,000 copies of her solo album "R" (2021) during the first week of release.
Jisoo's new lead track "Flower" sat on No. 6 of Spotify's Daily Top Song Global Chart with 4.67 million streams around the world and 330,000 followers on her artist page, which are all records for a female solo K-pop singer, according to her agency YG Entertainment.
The song also sits at the No. 1 spot on iTunes' Worldwide Song Chart in 57 regions around the world and atop the Now Hot charts in domestic charts including MelOn, Genie and Bugs.
The song has been praised for its clever mix of style, tradition and pop in both music and visuals.
