Girl group Billlie will debut in Japan on May 17 with the single “GingaMingaYo,” its agency Mystic Story announced on Thursday.

Billlie’s first Japanese single is the Japanese version of the girl group’s debut Korean track of the same name, a pop song with strong electronic beats.

The song received widespread popularity among fans of K-pop in Korea and overseas, with the music video garnering 30 million views on YouTube and one video focusing only on Tsuki garnering 12 million views — an impressive number for so-called fancams that focus on individual members.

The girl group will hold its Japanese debut showcase titled “what is your B” on May 20 at Zepp Diversity Tokyo, followed by Japanese fan events, exhibitions and more.

Member Moon Sua will not be participating in the planned Japanese group activities. She has been taking a temporary hiatus from group and individual activities since the death of her brother Moonbin in April.

Billlie debuted in Korea in October 2021 as a six-member girl group — Moon Sua, Suhyeon, Haram, Tsuki, Siyoon and Haruna — with Sheon joining a month later. The girl group most recently released its fourth EP “the Billage of perception: chapter three” on March 28 with lead track “Eunoia.”
