Singer Jung Seung-hwan, also known as a member of the project boy band "Gomak Boys" will start his mandatory military service on July 17, his agency Antenna said Thursday.

“Jung Seung-hwan recently applied for the army, and after having been accepted by the Military Manpower Administration, will be enlisting on July 17,” Antenna said through a press release on Thursday.

“[His military service] will act as a resting chapter, so that he can walk his musical path for the days to come.”

Jung rose to popularity after coming in second place on SBS’s audition program “K-pop Star Season 4” in 2014. He released his first album in 2016 “His Voice,” and is known for hit ballad tracks “Day & Night” (2020), “If It Is You” (2016), “Wind” (2016) and “The Snowman” (2018). He appeared on the Kakao TV original, "Gomak Boys" (2022), debuting as a member of the project boy band of the same name.

The singer has been dubbed the “crown son of ballads,” a joke about how promising Jung is as an artist, on his way to becoming the next prince of ballads.
