LG Energy Solution signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Redcap Tour to strengthen its battery management business.

The Korean company will offer battery management solutions to rental cars operated by Redcap Tour, which can help drivers to check the conditions of their electric vehicles (EVs) in real time.

It will collect driving data of the cars and analyze the usage of the batteries as part of efforts to advance its battery-as-a-service (BaaS) business, which involves battery leasing and swapping and energy storage systems.

Being able to evaluate the remaining value of used batteries is considered a key step toward succeeding in the market, LG Energy said.

"The BaaS is growing in importance to efficiently manage batteries while the EV market constantly increases," said Kim Tae-young, vice president at LG Energy Solution. "With the latest cooperation, we will endeavor to offer the best EV management solution to our customers."
