“The Roundup: No Way Out” attracted 2 million audience members on the third day of its release, surpassing the rate of ticket sales of its predecessor “The Roundup” (2022) which managed to hit the 2 million viewer mark on the fourth day of its release.
“The Roundup: No Way Out” recorded 2 million ticket sales as of Friday afternoon, according to distributor ABO Entertainment.
“The Roundup: No Way Out” is the third installment in a series of action films after “The Outlaws” (2017) and “The Roundup.” “The Roundup” attracted 12.69 million viewers in Korea alone in 2022, the only domestically-produced film to gain more than 10 million viewers during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“The Roundup: No Way Out” tells the story of “monster cop” Ma Suk-do, played by Don Lee, who chases two villains involved in an international drug ring.
“The Roundup: No Way Out” accounted for 90 percent of daily box-office sales, according to data from the Korean Film Council. This means that 9 out of 10 moviegoers who visited theaters saw the film.
A total of eight films in the franchise are currently planned, with filming for the fourth film already wrapped up and the script for the fifth and sixth films in the works.
