Young K of boy band DAY6 is set to release solo music.

“DAY6’s Young K is currently preparing for a solo album. We will announce its release day once it is confirmed,” his agency JYP Entertainment told the Korea JoongAng Daily on Wednesday.

Local media reported Wednesday that Young K will drop his solo album in September, five months after he completed his military service in April.

Young K served his mandatory military service as a member of the Korean Augmentation To the United States Army from October 2021 to April 2023.

Young K released multiple demo tracks starting with “Text Me Now” in 2020. He made his official solo debut with his first EP “Eternal” in 2021. All seven tracks on the EP, including lead track “Guard You,” were written, composed and produced by Young K.

DAY6 debuted under JYP Entertainment in 2015 as the agency’s first rock band. The band currently consists of four members — guitarist and vocalist Sungjin, bassist, guitarist and vocalist Young K, keyboardist and vocalist Wonpil and drummer and vocalist Dowoon.
