JW Marriott Hotel Seoul

From July 6 to 8: Tamayura, the upscale Japanese dining destination at JW Marriott Hotel Seoul, presents a combination of refined service and luxury Japanese cuisine. Epicurean kaiseki (traditional multi-course Japanese dinner), sushi and teppanyaki (food grilled over iron griddle) are crafted by master chefs according to the finest recipes. This July, in collaboration with the renowned Japanese culinary group Ukai, Tamayura will host a gala dinner by leading Chef Sasano Yuichioro, showcasing the restaurant’s unique philosophy and celebrating the essence of Japanese cuisine.

Chef Sasano boasts years of experience working with various Ukai brands, operating renowned restaurants sought by foreign dignitaries visiting Japan, and hosting gala dinners at overseas destinations including Taiwan, China and Singapore. An accomplished master of both sushi and teppanyaki, Chef Sasano will present two set-course dining experiences at JW Marriott Hotel Seoul over three days: Tamayura Journey and Kaiseki.

Tamayura Journey, crafted from celebrated Japanese ingredients and the finest wild seafood from the waters off Jeju Island, is paired with a curated selection of four wines, taking diners on a culinary journey that encompasses both the sushi and teppanyaki sections of the restaurant. The meal concludes with a tea ceremony demonstration, special dessert, and tea at Tamayura’s tea bar, where Japanese tea culture comes to life. The result is an unforgettable experience showcasing the diversity and elegance of Japanese cuisine.

The Kaiseki menu served in a private dining room, features a combination of Ukai’s signature tofu, normally found only in Japan, and Korean ingredients, crafted by master chefs into a diverse succession of epicurean dishes to create an unparalleled dining experience. The meal is paired with three sake varieties imported by Tamayura directly from Japan, further elevating each gourmet course.

“This collaboration with Ukai was born of the relationship between Chef Sasano and his star former student, teppanyaki Chef Lee Gyeong-jin of Tamayura,” commented a hotel official. “The gala dinner, combining Chef Sasano’s teppanyaki with Ukai’s exclusive signature tofu and the creative input of all chefs de partie, is the first of its kind at Tamayura. We hope it will mark the beginning of an ongoing relationship of exchange and mutual inspiration.”

This summer’s gala dinner at Tamayura will be served from July 6 to 8, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. only. The Tamayura Journey menu, showcasing the diversity of Japanese cuisine, is priced at 650,000 won ($502) per person, including four wine pairings, and the Kaiseki menu at 450,000 won, including three sake pairings. Both prices include tax and service charges. Places are limited and advance reservation is required.
