Fifty Fifty's agency threatens legal action against those trying to poach members

Fifty Fifty's agency Attrakt claimed on Friday that other entertainment agencies have been approaching the girl group members to lure them into signing new contracts.

“We have learned that other entertainment agencies are spreading bad rumors about [Attrakt] in an attempt to lure the members of Fifty Fifty so that they make a wrong choice in breaking the exclusive contract they have signed with the agency," Attrakt wrote in a statement. "Such actions by the agencies can greatly damage the image and the future potential of the members who only debuted seven months ago. This also has a serious effect on the K-pop industry as a whole."

Fifty Fifty rose to worldwide fame just four months after its debut with its latest track “Cupid” (2023), staying on Billboards’ Hot 100 Chart for 13 weeks in a row. The group has been making headlines as such a feat is unprecedented.

“Though we started small [...] we believe we've written a new history in K-pop,” the agency, which was established in 2021, said. “We feel strong resentment with the illegal actions taken by such agencies trying to steal the miracle we have created. We plan on taking legal action with no compromises."

Fifty Fifty — with members Keena, Saena, Sio and Aran — debuted on Nov. 23 last year with its first EP "The Fifty." The group's latest release "Cupid," which dropped on Feb. 24, was received positively overseas while remaining relatively less known in Korea. The girl group will release "Barbie Dreams" on July 21, which will be part of the soundtrack for the upcoming "Barbie" film.

Regarding the group taking time off from the music scene at the moment, the agency said it's because its member Aran, who had to receive a surgery in May, is still taking a rest. Attrakt said in May that Aran had to receive a surgery after feeling discomfort while practicing their choreography. It did not reveal exactly what kind of surgery she had. The agency said on Friday that the doctors advised Aran to take "at least a month, to two months of rest to fully recover" before resuming any activities.
