The 23-year-old woman in Busan who shocked the nation last month for allegedly murdering a woman of the same age she met online reportedly stabbed the victim more than 110 times and looked up parricide on the internet.

Prosecutors told the local press on Tuesday that the suspect, identified as Jung Yoo-jung, is believed to have stabbed the victim in multiple body parts, including non-fatal areas like her palm, in addition to the fatal wounds that caused her death.

Jung is also suspected to have severed the victim’s fingers to avoid fingerprint identification.

Two days prior to the alleged murder, prosecutors said Jung talked on the phone with her father for two hours and vented her frustration at him.

At one point during the conversation, Jung stated she was about to “do something big” and that he wouldn’t be able to handle the aftermath.

“She felt a need to express accumulated anger from an unfortunate upbringing, family discord, failures in university admissions and employment, and coupled with her psychopathic personality, that culminated in the commission of the crime,” a prosecutor said on condition of anonymity.

Prosecutors also revealed that Jung looked up the word “parricide” on online search engines after she failed to get into university and flunked the public service exam.

A psychological analysis conducted by the prosecution revealed that Jung sought to inflict pain on a third party in order to cause suffering to her father, whose affection she craved.

Jung made local headlines in late May when police revealed that she allegedly killed a 23-year-old woman whom she met on an app that matches private tutors with students “out of curiosity.”

Jung, who doesn’t have a child, pretended that she did.

According to police, Jung claimed to be the mother of a high school student when she scheduled a tutoring session with the victim and asked for her home address. Jung then went to the victim’s home on May 26 wearing a high school uniform, pretending she was the student.

Police said Jung allegedly murdered the victim, dismembered her body, stuffed the body parts in a suitcase, and drove out to Yangsan in South Gyeongsang, about 20 kilometers (12 miles) north of Busan, in a taxi to dispose of the suitcase next to Nakdong River.

The taxi driver called the police after Jung raised his suspicions.

Jung was indicted with physical detention on June 21 on charges of murder as well as desecration and abandonment of a corpse.
