Girl group BB Girls [NEWS1]
Girl group BB Girls, formerly known as Brave Girls, will return with new music in August.
This will be the girl group's first music release since signing with their new agency, Warner Music Korea, in May and changing its name to BB Girls.
“Shiny World,” which dropped in June and was part of the soundtrack for the animation “Bastions,” was released under the old name.
“BB Girls will release a new song in August. As it is the group’s first music release after signing with Warner Music Korea, we hope you are looking forward to the upcoming release,” the agency said Friday.
BB Girls is pronounced "beu-beu girls."
All four members — Minyoung, Yujeong, Eunji and Yuna — left Brave Entertainment upon the expiration of their exclusive contracts in February this year and signed exclusive contracts with Warner Music Korea on April 27.
Brave Girls originally debuted in 2011, but all the original members left the group after lukewarm success.
The second generation initially did not achieve commercial success either and was about to disband until a YouTube video about its song "Rollin'" went viral in early 2021. The video, which is a compilation of comments on videos of Brave Girls' performances, revealed that the song was popular among Korean servicemen as the girl group had frequently performed at military bases to entertain troops. The viral popularity earned Brave Girls the moniker "president of the military."
