Death toll at 40 amid torrential rains with 13 killed from Osong underpass

The death toll from the heavy rains rose to 40 as of Monday morning after four more bodies were found overnight from the submerged underpass in Osong-eup, North Chungcheong.

As of 6 a.m., Monday, the casualties included 39 people dead and nine people missing, the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters said.

This included three additional fatalities from the Osong underpass flooding.

However, a woman's body was recovered at the underpass after the official tally came, increasing the number of deaths to 40.

Thirteen people have been found dead so far at the underpass.
