TORONTO — Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon threw the ceremonial first pitch for the baseball game against the Boston Red Sox at Rogers Centre in Canada on Saturday. Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Ryu Hyun-jin caught Oh's pitch.

Oh wore a cap and a baseball glove embroidered with the Korean capital's new logo and slogan, "Seoul, my soul," to promote the city's latest rebranding.

The ceremonial first pitch also took place as part of celebrating the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relationships between Korea and Canada, according to the Seoul Metropolitan Government.

The city government on the same day operated a booth promoting the city's new slogan near Rogers Centre, holding events such as quiz sessions and dance performances, and handed out city merchandise to visitors.

Oh embarked on a weeklong trip to Canada and the United States on Saturday. He will visit Canada for two days and look around Rogers Centre and Toronto's waterfront downtown for benchmark references for the development of Jamsil Sports Complex in southern Seoul.

He will then travel to New York to attend a steering committee meeting of the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group and will also meet with New York City Mayor Eric Adams to sign a memorandum of understanding for the two cities to work on on the economy, social affairs and culture.

During his trip to New York, Oh will visit major city spots such as the World Trade Center Campus and One Vanderbilt to receive inspiration from the architecture for his eco-friendly and efficient urban development plans, according to the city government.
