Gangwon experienced the country's first frost and ice this fall as temperatures plunged Friday.
 
The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) reported that the continuing influx of cold air caused temperatures to drop, with the mercury plummeting to a mere 0.7 degrees Celsius (33.26 degrees Fahrenheit) in Gangwon's highland Daegwallyeong region at 6:29 a.m. Friday.
 
Korea’s morning low on Friday fell to around 4 to 14 degrees Celsius nationwide, down 2 to 5 degrees Celsius from Thursday.

The cold air hit inland and mountainous areas most severely, with morning lows of around 5 degrees Celsius, according to the KMA.
 
The morning low in Seoul plummeted to 9.6 degrees Celsius as of 6:41 a.m., down 3.2 degrees Celsius on-year. The temperature rose to 10.6 degrees Celsius (51.08 degrees Fahrenheit) by 8 a.m.
 
Morning temperatures in southern regions such as Gwangju, Daegu and Busan were around 14 degrees Celsius as of 8 a.m. Daejeon and Incheon temperatures were 11.9 and 12.6 degrees Celsius, respectively.
 
The KMA forecasted normal daytime weather for this time of year, with the temperature rising to 20 to 24 degrees Celsius and clear skies. 
 
Friday’s highs and lows will differ between 10 to 15 degrees Celsius (50 to 59 degrees Fahrenheit), according to the weather agency.
 
The KMA said coastal areas will experience strong winds, with high waves along the eastern and southern coasts, including Jeju.
