Tokyo-listed Nexon has named Lee Jung-hun, currently the head of the company's Korean branch, as its next president and CEO.

“Nexon’s board of directors has unanimously nominated Lee Jung-hun to serve as the company’s next representative director, president and CEO, effective following Nexon’s annual general meeting of shareholders in March 2024,” Nexon said in a statement on Thursday.

The current Nexon CEO Owen Mahoney steps down from his position after March and will serve as a senior adviser.

Lee joined Nexon in 2003 and has been with the company for two decades, becoming the CEO of Nexon Korea, the company’s largest subsidiary, in 2018.

Under Lee’s leadership, Nexon Korea witnessed a compound annual growth rate of 19 percent from 2018 to 2022, and successfully launched new games such as Dungeon & Fighter Mobile, Maple Story M, Blue Archive and Dave the Diver.

“I am honored and excited to lead the company into its next generation,” said Lee. “This leadership transition comes at a time when Nexon is both stable and positioned for dynamic growth. Our global franchises are delivering steady revenue which we have invested in a powerful pipeline of new games in development that have the potential to become global hits."
