Actor Song Hye-kyo is in talks to make a comeback to the Korean silver screen for the first time in nine years with “Black Nuns.”
“Black Nuns” is the female remake of the 2015 film “The Priests,” starring Gang Dong-won and Park So-dam. “The Priests” tells the story of two priests who exorcize evil spirits hiding inside a young girl’s body. The film attracted 5.44 million viewers in theaters.
“Song is currently positively considering appearing in the film,” the actor’s agency United Artists Agency told the Korea JoongAng Daily on Monday.
Song’s last Korean film appearance was in the 2014 film “My Brilliant Life,” though the actor has appeared in three Chinese films since then.
Song debuted in 1996 with a small role in a television drama after winning first place in a model contest. She rose to stardom with roles in dramas such as “Soonpoong Clinic” (1998), “Autumn in My Heart” (2000), “All In” (2003) and “Full House” (2004). She has since starred as the lead in a number of hit dramas including “Descendants of the Sun” (2016) and “The Glory” (2022-2023). For her performance in the latter, Song won the Best Actress – Television award at the 59th Baeksang Arts Awards.
