A 27 year-old woman, who was run over by a Rolls-Royce driven by a 28 year-old who tested positive for seven different types of drugs in August, has finally succumbed to her injuries.
According to the legal representative of the victim on Monday, the woman passed away at 5 a.m. on Saturday. Her family held a funeral and placed her urn in her hometown in Daegu.
The unidentified woman moved to Seoul nearly a year ago after she was hired by a film distribution company.
Shin Woo-jun, who was under the influence of drugs, ran over the victim with his luxury vehicle at 8:10 p.m. in the upmarket neighborhood in Apgujeong, Gangnam, Seoul, on Aug. 2.
He tested positive for seven different drugs including dissociative anesthetic ketamine.
The woman had been hospitalized at the intensive care unit at a general hospital in Daegu for the past four months where she was on life support.
As the woman has now died from her injuries, the prosecutors’ office has changed the indictment against the driver.
The maximum penalty could be raised from six years in prison to 10 years if found guilty.
Shin is also accused by the prosecutors of driving under the influence and failing to take action after the accident had occurred.
