Two Korean nationals were arrested by the Cambodian customs authority on drug-carrying charges at Phnom Penh International Airport on Sunday, according to Cambodian daily newspaper Khmer Times.

The Cambodian customs officials captured a Korean man and woman who were wearing two kilograms (4.4 pounds) of methamphetamine and ketamine wrapped in packages around their waists on Sunday night. The pair attempted to board a flight bound for Incheon, Korea.

The officials found that they possessed some 1.29 kilograms of meth and 0.98 kilograms of ketamine after an initial inspection.

The local report said the two Koreans suspected of smuggling drugs were referred to the Cambodian Anti-Drug Department for investigation and legal measures.

Although Cambodia does not execute the death penalty on drug offenders, those who are convicted of dealing over 80 grams (0.17 pounds) of drugs can face a life sentence in prison.
