IU to hold encore concert at the World Cup Stadium in September

IU will hold an encore concert in September at the Seoul World Cup Stadium, the second-largest stadium in Korea. The singer-songwriter made the announcement at her final concert in Seoul on Sunday.

The encore concert will be held on Sept. 21 and 22 at the Seoul World Cup Stadium — also known as the Sangam World Cup Stadium — in Mapo District, western Seoul.

“I felt like our Korean fans would miss me as I continue my world tour abroad,” IU said during Sunday’s concert at the KSPO Dome in southern Seoul.

“I’ll be going to Sangam for encore, and while we have a bit of time left till the concert, I plan to present a similar yet different concert there. It seats even more people there.”

Seoul World Cup Stadium seats around 66,000 people, only short of the Seoul Olympic Stadium — currently under renovation — which seats almost 70,000.

IU previously held her “The Golden Hour” concert at the Seoul Olympic Stadium in 2022.
