Subway operations along line No. 1 were delayed until the afternoon rush hours on Monday following a train car malfunction earlier in the day.
Korail, the state-run train operator, alerted commuters that platforms between Kwangwoon University Station and Yeoncheon Station in Gyeonggi along Line No. 1 may be overcrowded due to the malfunction through an emergency disaster text sent out to residents of the greater Seoul area.
A subway train malfunctioned at around 11:10 a.m. the same day at Dobongsan Station, causing delays. According to Korail, some 200 passengers had to transfer to other subway trains.
The train operator said it was investigating the cause of the malfunction.
