SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won was re-elected as head of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), a major business lobby, for a second term on Thursday.
The KCCI held an extraordinary general meeting in Seoul and unanimously extended Chey's tenure.
The term of the KCCI chairman is three years, with the option for one reappointment. Chey has served as the chamber's chief since 2021.
Chey has introduced key initiatives, such as the KCCI communication platform and the Entrepreneurship Roundtable, emphasizing the need to strengthen the private sector's engagement with the government and the public.
He was also actively involved in Korea's unsuccessful bid to host the 2030 World Expo, having traveled around the world extensively as a special envoy last year.
