Kumeu Film Studios is set to open a second production site in Jeonju, North Jeolla.
The New Zealand-based studio company's production sites have hosted shooting for films including "Avatar" and "Mulan."
Jeonju Mayor Woo Beom-ki, Jeonju City Council Chair Lee Ki-dong and Kumeu CEO Peter Yoo signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) at the former Jeolla provincial office building in Jeonju on Tuesday.
Under the MOU, the parties will also cooperate on lighting, costumes, props, interior design and the hiring of extras, as well as to attract investment in Jeonju's content production companies.
Both Mayor Woo and CEO Yoo told press that they hope to “upgrade” Jeonju's film industry with the new partnership.
Kumeu's studio in Auckland spans more than 271,000 square meters (66.7 acres) and houses large-scale sound facilities, water tanks, extensive stages and 120,000 square meters of forest.
