The conservative People Power Party (PPP) on Sunday tapped four new members to join its seven-member interim emergency leadership committee headed by Hwang Woo-yea.
The nominated members are Reps. Yoo Sang-bum, Jun Joo-hyae, Eom Tae-young and lawmaker-elect Kim Yong-tae, senior party spokesperson Yoon Hee-seok said in a press briefing.
The three incumbent lawmakers are considered close to President Yoon Suk Yeol. Kim was newly elected in the April 10 parliamentary elections, while Jun lost her seat in the recent elections.
Their nominations are set to go through approval at the PPP's national standing committee meeting on Monday.
Rep. Jeong Jeom-sig, a two-term lawmaker considered close to Yoon, has been nominated as the party's chief policymaker, a post that is automatically included in the emergency leadership committee, along with the floor leader.
The interim committee is tasked with piecing the party back together following its crushing defeat in the parliamentary elections, and setting rules for a national convention to elect a new party leader.
