Namwon signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Mongolia's Dalanzadgad to jointly develop educational content and invite international students to the upcoming Namwon Glocal Campus.

The MOU was signed with Mongolia's Dalanzadgad, School No.1 of Dalanzadgad and Jeonbuk Jeil High School on Wednesday.

Namwon will work with the parties to jointly develop educational content and improve educational infrastructure at schools.

They will also work with each other to supply labor to agriculture industries in Namwon and invite international students to study in the Namwon Glocal Campus.

The Namwon Glocal Campus is the tentative name for Jeonbuk National University's new campus, which will be built in Namwon by 2027.

Plans for the campus were announced after the Jeonbuk National University was selected for the Glocal University 30 government funding project last year. Rather than building a new campus from scratch, Jeonbuk National University will use the Seonam University campus, which has shut down, and renovate it.

The campus will host lectures of three new divisions, which will offer programs regarding Korean culture, commerce and science and technology. The divisions will each have an annual student quota of 100 international students.

A Korean language center and startup station that helps international students establish their own businesses in Korea will also be built.

Namwon finished purchasing the lot of land occupied by Seonam University in March and is currently in the process of demolishing old buildings and clearing the area. Jeonbuk National University is conducting safety inspections of the remaining campus buildings and reviewing the curricula of the international student-only majors.
