Police arrest man accused of killing mother and daughter in southern Seoul

A man suspected of killing a mother and her daughter in Seoul was apprehended by police 13 hours after the incident, authorities said on Friday.

The suspect was captured at a roadside near Namtaeryeong Station in Seocho District, southern Seoul, at around 7:45 a.m. on Friday, according to the Seoul Suseo Police Precinct.

The man, in his 60s, is accused of stabbing a woman in her 60s and her daughter in her 30s at an officetel, or studio apartment, in Gangnam District, southern Seoul, at 6:54 p.m. on Thursday.

He fled the scene by car.

The suspect was identified as having a prior acquaintance with the mother.

Police are investigating the case and are considering filing an arrest warrant.
