Fried chicken buckets priced around 10,000 won ($7.23) at discount marts and convenience stores are becoming increasingly popular as big chicken franchise chains hike their prices through higher delivery fees.

The chicken buckets sold at discount marts dwindled in demand at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, shadowed by the popularity of chicken franchise chains, according to the domestic retail industry on Sunday.

However, chicken sales at marts quickly rose from 2022 due to inflation.
